- Karthedom Rural Co-operative Society, was registered in the year 1938. Name of the society then was “Karthedom St. Joseph Maranavasya Sahaya Sanghom”.
- In 1953 the name of the society was altered as “Karthedom Maranavasya Paraspara Sahaya Sangham”.
- On 15th of August 1979 the new building of society was inaugurated by Sri. A.L. Jacob- the then Agricultural Minister of State Government.
- Merit Award was started in the year 1983 for the children of Society's members.
- In the year 1990, the stone laying function of building in memoir of Golden Jubilee was carried out by then President, Sri. Albert.

The construction works that were completed in the year 1990, was inaugurated by Sri. Jayadevan - Joint Registrar of Co-operative Society of Ernakulam.

In the year 1991, membership of Society was given in wider locations and various other loans were introduced.

In the year 1996, Society was computerized for the first time.

On 1-4-2000, Society got elevated as Class-I in Co-operative Sector.

All members who had a minimum balance of Rs. 1000/- were included in the Free Accident cum Death Insurance benefit scheme since the year 2000.

A branch was started at vallarpadam, since 2-4-2001.

Since 29-9-2003, facility to have financial deals upto Rs. 5000/- at the first counter itself was introduced.

On 31-10-2003, society was re-named as Karthedom Rural Co-operative Society.

Society started functioning of its second Branch at Murikkumpadom since 2-8-2004.

From 15-6-2005, Society started to provide financial aid to its members under the Treatment Aid Scheme.

The functioning of Vallarpadam Branch was shifted to a new building since 14-11-2005.

From 12-1-2006, Murikkumpadom Branch started to function on Sunday's.
- Yearly Pension of Rs. 1000/- was introduced since 18-9-07 to all members who have completed 50 years of membership.
- Yearly Pension of Rs. 2000/- to members who have completed 45 years of membership.
